    Here we have a
    Vintage, Early 1900's, Surgeon's Folding Traveling Curved Bistoury Scalpel Ebony Handle
    .
    There is no maker mark on this scalpel.
    A 'bistoury' is defined as a long, narrow-bladed knife, with a straight or curved edge and sharp or blunt point (probe-point); used for opening or slitting cavities or hollow structures.
    This is an example of the blunt point type. and is a
    folding version
    of a scalpel
    to allow for easy travel to a patient's home, etc.  The scalpel blade is in Excellent condition.  The
    ebony
    handle has no cracks or chips. The scalpel is
