Vtg Bear Brand Hosiery Box Drawer From Store Furniture Display, Art Deco, C1920

Description

One of a kind item-this is a drawer from a Bear Brand Hosiery store display or piece of store furniture.  It features the same design as found on early Bear Brand hosiery boxes, which I would date, based on the toys the children are playing with and the kid's clothes, in the 1920's.The box is large-measuring 13 1/2" x 11 1/2 x 3 1/2".  At one short end, it has a metal pull tab attached so that it could be pulled out like a drawer to gain access to its contents.  The lid then can be lifted off the box/drawer.  There are no other markings on the box, except as found on the top of the box.  It does not have any indication of its contents, like you would find on a sales box that indicated "24 pair of size 8 children white socks".  So it is not just another sales box.  Also its size is too large for a sales box.  It displays so well, as you get the entire drawings of the children at play. Condition is OK-there are worn corners and edges-please see my photos.  Also there appears to be some clear tape to the box, especially in the back.  There are no split corners-just wear in the corners.  Bright, vivid colors and great art work.  From a pet free and smoke free home-the item has no odor.  Also a virus free home.  Nothing else like this on ebay.  Wonderful display piece.
