    Description

This listing is for a child's cowgirl/western costume souvenir made on the Qualla Cherokee Reservation in North Carolina.
The outfit is comprised of three pieces: skirt with back elasticized waistband, vest and beaded moccasins.
Construction and fabric wise-- the condition is very good-- no holes, rips or tears. There is, however, some staining-- typical of what I consider to be a child eating -- but I can't be sure. I am not familiar with washing vintage fabrics --so I opted to let the buyer- who is more than likely more experienced than I -- deal with this. It looks like the stain would come out rather easily.
The fringe on the outfit is genuine leather. as are the moccasins.
Skirt waistband measures 22"-- there is elastic on the back side. Length is 14 1/2". Being that it is a four gore A line skirt the bottom flare ends up measuring about 46". It has a one snap closure on the side seam. Vertical decorative ribbon/brocade on either side and the fur on the top has been dyed teal blue and it is real fur as the backside shows a tanned dyed hide of some kind-- rabbit maybe?
Vest is a simple box style with leather fringe on the bottom and on the shoulder seams as well on the breast line. Closure to the vest is string of some kind-- perhap a loop tie is missing. A leather pocket is on either side of the vest. Pocket on the right side towards the top-- has a few stitches missing ( easily repaired) Back of the vest has a bird-- perhaps the tribe's insignia. And in the back mid bias tape collar line is sewn the all telling tag-- Made by the Cherokees Qualla Reservation, Cherokee North Carolina. There is an ink stamp of some kind on the inside near the collar line that is unreadable to me. I thought at first it was sizing -- like Medium but on a second look I'm not so sure. Vest measures 13 1/2 from top seam to bottom of fringe. Side seam to side seam on the back measures 13".
Leather beaded moccasins are in good condition. No loose beading. There is a cushioned sole. Sole measures 5" and 2 3/4" across.  No excessive wear.
Any other questions you might have-- feel free to ask-- I don't know anything about provenance--
