Vintage Ashtray:VILLAGE of TOBACCOVILLE
The Place Doral Calls Home
Great vintage artist depiction scene in ashtray features pick-up truck loaded with
tobacco bales on it's way into a small town featuring a General Store, Church, and other buildings.
Sign in the scene says 'Welcome to Tobaccoville N.C."
See photos for what the actual Tobaccoville looks like today, likely same area as the artist's vintage rendering.
Tobaccoville, NC, according to online sources:
"
is a village in Forsyth and Stokes counties in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population was 2,441 at the 2010 census."
"Tobaccoville was named for a plug chewing tobacco factory owned and operated in the 1870’s by Charles Orrender.
The factory was located on what is now Doral Drive, one mile south of the present day post office at the Tobaccoville crossroads."
