    Description

This is a 12 piece set of Japanese coasters, used for tea or Sake.  This hails from the 1940's.  There is the storage box and 11 coasters.  Both the round storage box and each of the 11 coasters have the image of Mt. Fuji carved into them.   This set was hand carved as each of the coasters are just a little different than the other.  Some are just a bit larger in diameter or thicker.  I don't believe that there are any missing coasters as the box is as full as possible and still close.  That said, the storage box and the coasters are a set numbering 12 pieces. The knurling on the round box was obviously done by hand as it is just a little bit irregular.  Each coaster is just a bit over 3 1/4 inches in diameter.  The round storage box is 3 inches tall and 4 1/4 inches in diameter.  The storage box was obviously turned on a wood lathe.  This is a beautiful set.
