Description
Maker: With a long and rich history that dates to the late 1920s, Mottahedeh produces fine quality reproductions of museum pieces and other notable ceramic works. The company now owns the Limoges firm J. Seignolles, the Rookwood company and the Robert Haviland porcelain brand – and through it, the successor company of iconic Limoges firm Charles Field Haviland.
The plate was produced for Mottahedeh by Portugal's flagship porcelain maker Vista Allegre.
Design
: This wonderful and highly decorative plate has all the quality you would expect from Mottahedeh: an elegant design, superb porcelain and fine detailing and craftsmanship.
According to the attribution on the reverse, it's a design that was "adapted from a platter made for the Duke of Gloucester, circa 1770".
The beautifully painted design of vivid florals and butterflies is trimmed in brushed 22K gold. The floral motif - which according to Motthedeh includes 20 colors - extends to the reverse.
Condition
: The plate is in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, stains, discoloration, crazing, repairs or wear.
Size
: It's 10 inches wide and weighs 1 pound 3 ounces.
This elegant plate would make a dramatic statement of good taste in any home as part of a dinner service or on display.
