    Surgical Bone Saw by J. FENTON--Mid-19th Century
    Original mid-19th century surgical bone saw, steel construction featuring brass pistol-type handle with checkered hard rubber grips. brass ring tension screw, and steel serrated edge blade. Marked J. FENTON at top center of frame. Overall length 14 1/4 inches. Rust brown patina to steel frame and blade but no pitting or other damage and will clean much better if desired. No chips, cracks, or other damage to hard rubber grips.
    Joseph Fenton was an American manufacturer specializing in the production of surgical and dental instruments. He was located in Columbus, Ohio from 1845 to 1864, relocated to Cleveland in 1865 and remained there until going out of business in 1886. Could possibly date from the Civil War era. Nice solid piece for any collector of antique medical/surgical instruments and is in very good condition. Any questions please feel free to ask.
