    Description

    Up for sale is an antique New Orleans Sickles & Co. Surgical Scalpel ca 1842-1856.  This scalpel is identified and pictured in the book, "New Orleans Cutlers Until the 1900s" by Phil Bazer.  It was made for Sickles & Co., surgical instruments dealers and druggists in New Orleans.  The scalpel has checkered rosewood handles and is 7" long.  The blade is 3/8" wide.  It appears to be hand made.  See pics for condition.
