ANTIQUE MEDICAL SURGICAL TOOLS BOX HERNSTEIN SCALPEL CIVIL WAR CHIRURGIE AMPUTEE

Description

We received some antique medical instruments from an old estate and are listing the 3 boxes we found as three individual auctions. This is for the first box.
There is one key that fits 2 boxes and the latch on the 3rd box doesn't work. The key is not included in this listing.
We do not know much about these instruments and will describe them to the best of our ability.
This box measures approximately 7 1/4" wide, 3 3/8" wide and 1 1/2" tall. There are two slots with missing tools and the top flap doesn't have tools. There are a total of 6 tools to include the chain with hooks. Three tools are marked A.L. HERNSTEIN, one is marked HERNSTEIN and one does not have a mark that we can see. The chain with hooks is not marked that we can see. The knives measure approximately 5 1/4"- 5 1/2", the hook tool approximately 6 1/4" and the chain with hooks approximately 5". The handle material feels solid and we don't see any visible rust.
The box is in good to very good condition. The flap on top is still holding, the small ribbon to pull to open has come away from the material. It does not smell overly musky.
