Timeless Stitches SOFT WOOL BONNET (HOOD)  pattern TSA-555. This is a new, unused pattern in the original factory fold.
"Soft fabric bonnets were the most common bonnets of the 19th century. They came in many shapes and sizes but all served on major purpose...to protect the wearer from the elements. "Ladies of fashion" thought these styles of bonnet to be "prairie or frontier", but many women could not afford, or did not have access to the shaped bonnets and hats, so they made fabric bonnets and added trims and ruffles to dress them up.
This pattern is for a wool hood shaped much like the bonnets of the 1860's.  This hood is a great addition to your foul weather wardrobe.  The hood is sized for most women and does fit girls from about the age of 10.
The hood is made in three parts, with the lining being quilted before the hood is completed. These bonnets make wonderful, warm head coverings for cool days.  The fact that there is no stiffening to sag in the rain makes them great for those wet, rainy spring and fall days. AND they fold completely flat for packing and storage.
Fabric Requirements:  Approx. 1/4 yd of fashion fabric. 1/4 yard of  lining.Section of quilt batting 12" by 24" (wool felt may be used.) 24 inches of gimp, ribbon or braid for trim. 1 1/2 yards 3/4 to 1" wide grosgrain or double-sided satin for ribbon ties.
